Holiday Party Invitation

The WHAL Holiday Party is scheduled for December 20th from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m.

at Elene Page’s home*

This is the same date/time of our monthly meeting so there will not be a meeting until January 17.

Everyone that attended last year’s gala event had a wonderful time so we hope to see you all there to celebrate the season.

To help make the event a success, we are requesting that anyone attending bring something to share - whether it be a bottle of wine or something good to eat!

In addition to opening her home for the party Elene has also volunteered to coordinate the refreshments so that we can have a nice variety.

Zoe Shutka

Zoe's art show opening was Sunday, Dec. 2nd, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Sewickley Cafe on Beaver Street in Sewickley.

She has extended a warm welcome to all our art league members and friends to stop by the Sewickley Café while out doing your Christmas shopping and enjoy the exhibit.

Dan Jimick

WHAL member Dan Jimick's hand-colored linocut "House of Many Rooms" will be included in the Butler Institute of American Art's 71st Area Artists Annual.

The show runs from Jan. 12 to Feb. 3, 2008, with a Preview on Jan. 11. The Butler Institute is located at 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH. Their website is www.butlerart.com.

Nancy Bush

Nancy had a painting accepted in the 12th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibit is sponsored by The Southern Alleghenies museum of Art at Ligonier Valley.

The opening is Dec.1 and the exhibit lasts until Feb. 24, 2008. Visit the SAMA website for hours and directions http://www.sama-art.org/.

Cathy has agreed to take over the duties and responsibilities of our website! She will also be responsible for uploading and sending out the monthly newsletter. She is more than qualified for this task and we are fortunate that she has taken on these duties.

PTI Exhibition Dates

The WHAL show at the Pittsburgh Technical Institute will be held in April 2008. So mark your calendars.

Drop off of art work will be March 28th/29th with the reception on April 9th.

Pick up of art work will be April 25th/26th. More information will be distributed as the time draws nearer.

All those interested in attending a 3-day seminar with watercolor artist Frank Webb should contact WHAL member Elene Page for more information. elenepage@verizon.net. The seminar will take place at Robin Hill Park in Moon Township, PA from February 29th through March 2nd, 2008.
