Artist's Statement
Painting opens a window to what I love most...nature, gardening and the outdoors. I've been fortunate in my life to live next to both an ocean and the mountains. My goal is to express with paint, a little of the beauty nature holds and the enjoyment I receive from it.
Biography
Kim Iyer is a self-taught artist gaining knowledge and experience through books and artist demonstrations. When a move to Pittsburgh, PA introduced her to a new neighbor, Kim found they had a common interest in art and Dianne Bauman has since become her good friend and mentor, encouraging her to grow as an artist.
As a youth, she received a good deal of instruction and guidance from her father - a commercial artist. Creativity flows through the family tree with her mother engaged in many artistic projects as well as her children and siblings.
Painting in acrylics, her goal is to open a window to a time or place - often allowing a bit of nostalgia into her art, as well as her love for the beauty and tranquility of nature.
Kim works primarily from photographs in her studio - often utilizing four or more reference photos taken on-site. She loves painting in this manner, interpreting the scene in her own artistic style. Virtually any location can be translated into a beautiful piece of art.
