ABOUT CREATING OR CHANGING YOUR YAHOO ID
Your new Yahoo id comes with an email address. If your Yahoo id is picasso, for example, then your Yahoo email address will be picasso@yahoo.com. However, if you already have an email address that you use all the time, say picasso@comcast.net you will want to change your Yahoo profile making your normal email address your "primary" email address in your profile.
Why is that important? Because group posts will be sent to your email. You want them to go wherever you receive your email. You can also respond to posts through your email, rather than having to logon to Yahoo. Nice, huh?
When changing personal information in Yahoo you might be asked to repeatedly type in your Yahoo password.
It's painful, but necessary.
ABOUT GAINING ACCESS TO THE WHAL YAHOO FORUM
These instructions assume you have a Yahoo id and that your primary email address in your Yahoo account is the one you use to receive your email. If neither is true, read the section above.
- Look for the blue button in the upper right that says "Join This Group!" Click it.
- Scroll down to the comment box and tell me who you are. (Because if your id is bullwinkle or rockythesquirrel I'm not going to know who you really are. And if I don't know you, I can't let you in because ours is a private group.)
- Scroll to the Step 2 area and you'll find two choices: Individual Email and Daily Digest. If you want to receive an email every time a member posts to the group, then select Individual Email. If you want to get one email each day that contains all of the day's posts then select Daily Digest.
- Scroll down some more and type in those creepy twisted numbers/letters and click the blue "Join" button. You'll see a message that says "Membership Pending."
- Now you have to wait for me, the group moderator. Within a day (usually within a few hours) I'll approve your access to the group and you'll receive an email stating "Request to join westhillsart approved."
