Luella Priore received her training and education from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, PA. She also gained valuable guidance by attending workshops and classes conducted by notable artists that include Frank Webb, Edgar Whitney, Barbara Nechis and Katherine Chang Liu,, among others. Luella also sharpened her skills when she worked for three years in an advertising studio.
Luella has exhibited her work extensively in the tri-state area including the Three Rivers Art Festival, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and the Westmoreland County Museum in Greensburgh, PA. Among the out-of-state exhibits is the Annual American Watercolor Society show both in Canton, OH in 1985 and 1988, in New York City. In 1983, Luella's painting was shown at the McClelland Regional Gallery in Victoria, Australia with the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Group. One of her paintings was chosen to be included in the 1985 American Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibit across the United States. In 1990, a painting was judged into the San Diego Watercolor Society show in California.
The Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, Associate Member of the American Watercolor Society, along with our own WHAL are some of the memberships that Luella holds.
Three of her paintings were published in a book by Frank Webb entitled Strengthen Your Paintings with Dynamic Composition. She also had an article published in the North Light Magazine in March 1980.
Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections including Pittsburgh National Bank, Mobay Chemical Corp., USAirways, Blue Cross of Western PA, United Steelworkers' International, and the Cranberry Board of Supervisor Purchase Award in 1996, 1998 and 2005.
